YouTube: From Concept to Hyper-growth

Checkout this presentation from Jawed, who is the Co-Founder YouTube , which is the 4th most-popular website in the world and one of the fastest-growing websites in the history of the Internet. Amazing to know how the idea of YouTube originated. This was the best way for me to see how things got started with YouTube.

Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 - Virtual PC Error

After downloading the Virtual PC Image file of the Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2, i was unable to run the image file, which is continuously giving me the hard disk not found error.

So, what is the solution? Its my fault to overlook the Required Software Section on the Download Page that clearly says that we require Visual Studio Code Name Orcas Base Image , which is another 1 GB Download :)

Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5 Beta 2 released, with Go Live

Visual Studio 2008 delivers on Microsoft's vision of enabling developers and development teams to rapidly create connected applications with compelling user experiences for Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, mobile devices and the Web. With the release of Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2, Microsoft is taking a leap forward on its promise to enable developers to harness this next wave of innovation.

Microsoft hits it out of the park with Visual Studio 2008 Team System. For more details checkout the Soma's blog and Rob Caron's for some name changes. The Visual Studio 2008 family of products will be another step forward. The big thing for me about Beta 2 is that there is a "Go Live" license. Using prerelease software in production isn't for everyone and I certainly don't recommend it. I will soon put forward a series of videos on Visual Studio 2008 and other technologies that i am using to develop Mulazamat.com. But downloading Visual Studio 2008 is not an easy thing with GBs of download, i started downloading it last night and completed the download within 6 hours.

Log Into Windows Using Facial Recognition Software

This was the thing I am looking for, a software to Lock/Unlock your PC without any keyboard interaction. I always lock my PC even if I have to go away for 5-10 seconds. BananaScreen software lets you login to your computer using facial recognition software. So, the main hardware required is to have a web cam.. To use BananaScreen, there are 3 easy steps:

  1. Download the software,
  2. Create your face model,
  3. Then login/logout

Currently, BananaScreen works on Windows 2000 and XP.

Microsoft.com Deployment on IIS 7.0

Microsoft.com is the 5th most trafficked site in the world, 4th most in the US. The site is supported by roughly 80 Web servers delivering content daily to around 287M unique users via +300k concurrent connections at a rate of over 10k requests per second. Despite such a heavy load, Microsoft.com is consistently the #1 most available site on the Internet as measured by Keynote. The Operations team for MSCom had been playing with IIS7 since its early beta builds and recently finished deploying the new Web server in Windows Server 2008 Beta 3 to all its production servers. Channel8 : Coming Soon

Now, after the launch of Channel9 and on10, Microsoft is now starting a new Channel for Students called Channel8.

The most important aspect of Channel 8 is the Student, not programming languages. We want to provide a place for technical students to call their home on the web; a place to meet and share ideas with fellow thinkers, and this means Channel 8 will be and provide, in time, many things that matter to students...
